What Is The Veranda?

The Veranda is a venue nestled in San Antonio that combines Tuscany meets Spain, with rustic charm and modern comfort. Think of it as a huge comfy house with an outdoor ceremony option and a tucked away event hall in the backyard. As soon as you step foot in their courtyard, you sort of, kind of...forget where you are.

Owned and operated by a local team passionate about creating memorable experiences, The Veranda has carved out a niche for itself by blending indoor elegance with outdoor beauty.

Perfect for Every Occasion!

Whether you're planning a dreamy wedding, a fun-filled birthday bash, or a corporate event that sparkles with personality, this venue is your go-to spot! It's got everything you need to make your special day unforgettable!

What Does The Veranda Offer?

Let’s break down the goods because this venue has planned everything you'd need.

  • Indoor and Outdoor Spaces

The Veranda has an indoor hall with high ceilings and tasteful decor that strikes a balance between rustic and refined. Outside, you’ll find a lush garden area courtyard with a water feature, and string lights, perfect for sunset ceremonies or evening cocktails. Typically we do an outdoor ceremony, courtyard cocktail hour, and move everyone inside for a reception.

  • Capacity and Flexibility

Hosting anywhere from 50 to 200 guests, The Veranda adapts to your event size because they have plenty of areas outside to host. It is located on a lot of 3 acres.

  • Catering and Bar Options

They do their own in house and off site catering, under the name Spice of Life Catering. The catering staff are very attentive and accommodating. They will customize their menu to make you happy. They have so many things on their menu! Exquisite Texas flavors, Italian, BBQ, or Mexican foods. Whether you want gluten free meal that melts in your mouth or vegan delight that even meat lovers rave about, the menu options are diverse. The bar offers a solid selection of craft beers, wines, and signature cocktails that keep the party flowing. Tell them your dream Signature drinks, they will make it from scratch!

  • Event Staff & Built in Decor

The staff at The Veranda are known for being friendly, professional, and just the right amount of hands-on. They help with setup, timing, and even those last-minute “uh-oh” moments that happen at every event. When we planned events there, we realize they have a little bit of everything. Linens in all sizes and colors to cover their tables, platters to help decorate your stations or dessert tables, and even a last minute cake stand. This stuff matters when you're considering other venues!

  • Changing Rooms

If you're getting married, you'll have to get ready offsite, and change once you arrive. Luckily, The Veranda has changing rooms to hide away from each other in their 2 suites. Typically, one of you will get changed in their suite located on one side of the venue, towards the back of the main house. The other suite is located in a separate, small cottage.

  • Micro Weddings in San Antonio

Having a smaller wedding, or just need a few hours? This venue will have a package for you!

A Bit of History That Adds Flavor

Originally built in the early 1900s as a private residence in the city of Castle Hills, the building has seen its fair share of San Antonio history. Over the decades, it transformed from a family home to a community gathering spot, and finally into the venue we know now. It was once called the "Castle on the Hill" or "The Castle" and it was built by a man named Chester Slimp.

The owners took great care to preserve the original architecture — the wooden beams, the brick walls, and the classic veranda that gives the place its name. This blend of old and new creates a unique atmosphere that guests often describe as “timeless” or “magical.” It’s like stepping into a storybook, but one where you get to dance and eat cake. Plus? They are LGBTQ+ friendly!

What Are People Saying About The Veranda?

Here’s where the tea really gets hot. Reviews and word of mouth paint a picture of a venue that delivers on its promises and then some.

  • The Good Stuff

Guests rave about the ambiance, calling it cozy yet elegant. Many mention how the outdoor space is perfect for photos, especially during golden hour. The staff consistently get shoutouts for being attentive without hovering. Food and drink get high marks, with some saying it’s the best event catering they’ve had in San Antonio.

  • The Not-So-Good Stuff

No place is perfect, and The Veranda has its quirks. Some guests note that the venue can get a bit warm during summer afternoons, so timing your event for later in the day or using their fans is a smart move. A few mention that the parking lot fills up quickly during big events, so carpooling or ride-sharing is recommended.

  • The Funny Bits

One reviewer joked that the venue’s charm is so strong, they almost forgot they were at a wedding and not a cozy family reunion. Another said the cocktail named “The Veranda Breeze” should come with a warning label for how quickly it sneaks up on you.

Why The Veranda Stands Out in San Antonio

San Antonio has no shortage of event venues, but The Veranda stands out because it feels personal. It’s not a cookie-cutter ballroom or a sterile event hall. It’s a place where there's quite a bit of history, where the staff treat you like a friend, and where every corner has a story or a perfect photo op.

The venue’s commitment to supporting local businesses, from planners to florists, also adds to its charm. When you book The Veranda, you’re not just renting a space; you’re tapping into a community and getting so much value from all it has to offer.
